I have just purchased a 16ft Lowe Roughneck with a 2006 ELPTO 75HP Optimax jet. The engine boat sat unused for 6 years. It was not properly stored. 100 hours estimated time on the engine. I am a mechanic and have lots of knowledge just not about boats. I know I need to clean the gas tanks out and replace fuel lines as well as clean the oil tank out. Can anyone give me a comprehensive list of things I should replace and where might be a good place to buy all of the parts needed for a good price. I know fuel filter, water pump, thermostat would also be a great place to start as well. Thanks for any help you have. I just don’t want to jump to starting the boat before everything essential is replaced.

Pull the VST and clean it..also check to see if electric fuel pumps run and float not stuck. Replace ALL filters, mechanical fuel pump diaphragm, impeller, compressor belt, flush/replace all fuel and bleed lines. Use 6 gallons of good fuel and a good DFI oil on start up with a moderate dose of Merc Quickleen. Run at ramp on trailer at idle for at least 15-20 minutes and slowly raise rpm by 1000RPM every 5 minutes till motor will do its max on trailer. If it spits, barks, farts, pops, or acts like it not running correct...Stop and find problem.

I would put fuel to it(no premix needed) and start it... before changing anything.... The only thing I would probably do first is an oil pump prime. Once you hear it fire and run you will know you have a viable engine and then change what is needed.
