2004 Honda 8hp

I used to work a rental fleet of 28 aluminum Gregors and Valco mix, mostly 12 footers, and every one had a BF8D on the stern. They are rugged little motors.
If you know anything about rentals, then you'll know that they experience every kind of abuse drunks and newbie boat "captains" can dish out. Including hitting rocks at all angles and speeds, beaching at full throttle. Collisions with other boats and docks. And....the occasional sinking.

In the 4 1/2 years I worked on them I only had to replace 1 gearcase. Yeah, lots of props and they didn't look great after all that but they kept getting signed out every day of the week.

That outboard won't push that hull fast. Might not get on plane if more than one person on board or heavily loaded. But it'll get you out there and back if you do the minimum amount of maintenance.

Good luck.
