Hi, I have a BF115 2004 model EFI. Motor tries to start but will not stay running. Fuel is good, motor has good compression and spark. I can hear the fuel pump running when key is turned on and I am getting fuel to the VST. I also took the fuel rail loose and removed one of the injectors and turned the key on and was getting fuel pressure at the rail. Put it back together and it starts and dies. Runs maybe 2 seconds .
i pulled what appeared to be the return fuel line, comes off the pressure regulator. No fuel coming back.
not sure what is wrong or what to check next. Engine oil looks good. Motor was running fine 2 weeks ago.

when I first checked motor fuel pump would not run.
I lost 12v to fuel pump due to a bad relay . I replaced with a new one and I also disassembled VST and cleaned it and replaced the screen , o'rings and filter and fuel pump. Now I have problem described above.
thanks for any help.

Have any codes been down loaded, check owners manual for procedure, If not handy wait for" hondadude" He's the expert here! I believe there's two fuel pumps on your system,a low and a high with numerous filters/screens involved, have you checked your fuel/water separator lately??

Agree hondadude is the MAN. He might be on a vacation because haven't seen him post in a couple of weeks.

You can prove it's a lack of fuel problem by having a helper crank the engine while you use a propane plumber's torch to introduce UNLIT propane into the open throttle body. Propane is ideal for artificially adding fuel to an engine. If the engine is starving for fuel, it will easily start and run on propane as long as the throttle body is open.

Once you know it's fuel starvation you can narrow your search.

I will try to check the codes. I have replace all fuel filters on the engine and VST. I also replaced the fuel water separator. Fuel looks good and is only a couple of weeks old , boat gets used every two to three weeks.
i will let you know about codes. going to check them today.

ok turns out that the IAC valve screen was clogged, (full of carbon) no codes showed up because it was still working but air was restricted due to carbon / dirt buildup on screen. cleaned the IAC valve and screen and motor started and runs normal on hose. will water test soon and let you know how it goes.
