a problem has developed with the fuel system. its when the fuel tank is full the engine runs fine . we will run about 50 miles off shore and even move the boat around from hole to hole with outta hitch ..and on the way back in after we have consumed some fuel it will bog down as if its out of fuel.. the funny thing is the fuel tank is clean and we have replaced all the hoses and even a new water separator..and when you pull the fuel filter dump the fuel it will run 10 miles and do it again >> it weird !! any suggestions

"Assuming you have an internal tank, it sounds like you may have an obstruction in the breather line to your fuel tank, which is creating a vacuum in the tank as you consume fuel. Try running a wire through it and see if it is clear."

i do have an internal tank and thanks by the way for your help... well we have replaced all the hoses including the breather line ... it seems to do it when the fuel levels in the tank get to a certain point .im going to try and sit a different tank on the floor next time we go out and see what happens..and possibly try another fuel pump in line to see if its a drop in fuel pressure causing the problem..

"Buddy - let us know how it works with the auxillary tank. If that fixes the problem, then it sounds like you likely have a problem with the fuel pick-up from the tank - pull it and give it a thorough inspection and cleaning - hopefully, that's not a serious pain on your boat. If the auxillary tank does not fix the problem, then I would do a detailed disassembly and inspection of the onboard fuel-water seperator and the fuel filter, bowl and fittings. Just-In-Time may have some better ideas."

"New member with 2002 225 Honda on trailered 23 ft CC Parker on salt water. Engine ran great till 2 months ago. Started quickly on launch, running apparently normal at low speeds. Accelerating caused rather severe skipping at high speeds. Idled in water, occasionally advancing throttle with same results. After maybe 10 minutes, engine gradually ran smoothly. Put about 20 - 30 miles on trip with engine running like new - all numbers boat speed, RPM, GPH normal.
About three weeks later had same experience, traveling 40 miles with normal running after about ten minutes of missing as throttle advanced. Tried again about a week ago with initial high RPM skip even under no load. Left boat on trailer this time. Fuel is clear, amber , treated with Stabil, no water in filter/separator or bowl on engine. With boat bow elevated on trailer, removed dual fuel pick ups from tank and checked for water using small copper and rubber tubing and fuel primer bulb and found no evidence of water. Also, when engine is running after initial problems, it can be shut down and restarted easily. Would appreciate any suggestions. Is there a cold start mechanism that could be malfunctioning ? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks"

i found the problem finally !!

i found the problem finally !! it seems that on the last scheduled maintenance the internal fuel filter closest to the fuel rail was defective !! i think its called the high pressure fuel filter ?? but anyways all is good thanks for the help !

Buddy - Roger that. Glad you found the problem. Sounds a little strange that the high pressure fuel filter started acting up only after you had run a considerable amount of fuel out of the tank. So be it.
