2004 225 Alarms will not reset

Hello All-

Good news and bad news. I fixed a previous fueling problem and had a great/perfectly running test ride yesterday.

But.....
Got home and heard a weird noise. Investigation found the starter motor running on my 2004 225. The ignition WAS OFF. I turned the batteries off to kill it. Investigation determined that the signal wire was hot if the batteries were on. The ignition WOULD turn the motor off and on but the starter was running if the signal wire was plugged in. I went into the house to do some ignition key research....wiring diagram. Went back out with new info and everything was suddenly working perfectly even tho we did nothing.

Then it got really weird....
Right now this is where it is. THE ALARM IS GOING OFF WITH THE IGNITION ON. Both warning lights are on regardless of whether the ignition/key is on or off. They shouldn't be on if the ignition is off. It is throwing warnings for 24 and 26 which is both the lights...oil and heat. THE RESET FOR THE CODES IS NOT WORKING. I know the procedure and I'm 100% sure that the alarm/lights aren't resetting. My theory is that is because the alarm doesn't know the igntion is turning on and off during the reset procedure. That's why the lights are on when the ignition is off.

I'm leaning toward the six wire ignition/key switch? Any thoughts or advice would be absolutely greatly appreciated.

I tend to agree with you about the switch but you should test it before replacing it.
I might be wrong but I think it should be simple:

With the key in the off position, there should be NO continuity between the BAT terminal (White/Black wire) with any of the others.

Even if it looks good, shake it around and rotate the key several times to see if a contact may have busted loose and is floating around inside the housing.

If the switch checks out ok then I think it might get a little more complicated. But.... my next suspect would be the main relay.

I know those have given people trouble.

Good luck
