2003 Mercury 60hp 2 cycle, no RPM under load.

I have a 60hp with very few hours that won’t accelerate under load. It seems to be a fuel
issue. It started happening end of last year, this year, it might push the boat at 8mph. I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pump a couple of years ago. There is a part on the side that has a couple of fuel lines attached, that I don’t know its function. The water pump seems to generate normal pressure and is discharging water as what seems to be normal. I don’t run ethanol fuel and it has had fuel additive over the winter. No alarms, but frankly I don’t know if it had alarms. Attached is a picture of the part I’m curious about.

That is the enricher unit.----Replaces choke flappers.----Only used when starting the motor.

Ok that explains the wires that seem to connect. I think it is time to clean up the carbs and maybe change the fuel pump again. I changed it probably 3-4 years ago.

Have you tested for correct spark?

It runs good with no load, I think I’ll change plugs as well.

That and a simple test for spark.----Also post actual results from a compression test.

had the same issue with my 125 recently - needs was jammed in one of the carbs.
