I have a 2003 Honda BF50A. I'm looking for a carburetor rebuild kit. Does anyone know what the part numbers are or where to get the kit
Thanks

Hi,

Honda nor Keihin (the carb manufacturer) offer a "kit" for these. You can purchase individual components from:
www.boats.net at prices lower than from Honda and they are genuine OEM parts.

There's not a great deal that you might need to buy to "refurbish" these. It's usually a matter of thorough, proper cleaning that restores power and performance.

There are two different carb bodies on your engine. Carb #1 (top) and carb #2 (middle) are the same and carb #3 (bottom) is a bit different. See items 14 and 15 in the link.

Carb 3 is the carb where base adjustments and linkage connections are made.

These carbs have no accelerator pumps. Throttle enrichment is achieved via an enrichment piping system controlled by a fuel delivery check valve (see items 39 and 41). The force to deliver enrichment fuel is provided by a linkage operated dashpot pressurizing the check valve.

One critical item for easy starting, smooth idle and good performance is item #19..."jet set".....(also known as a low speed emulsion tube)
The jet set gets plugged easily and can be very difficult to get completely clean. They are also prone to developing vertical cracks in the tube. Magnification is often needed to properly assess and clean the jet set tubes.

An excellent book for working on these is the Honda Marine Carburetion Manual. I highly recommend it.

You can order one from Honda here under "support materials"

Good luck.
