2003 Evninrude 150HP

Hi all,

She shifts into reverse well, but won't kick into forward gear until the rpm's go up and then clunks in loudly. Suggestions?

Check the gear oil for metal bits.------Did this develop suddenly ?----After water pump work ?----Perhaps check shift rod height setting.

Thanks so much. I forgot to mention that the lower unit has not been removed lately. I will check the gear oil and shift rod height.

Trim the motor level, ake your foot and push down on rear of AV plate. If motor moves/rocks the front motor mount bolts are loose and has bent the upper shift rod. Common problem on bass boats.

Thanks so much. The boat is in the water currently and has a jack plate. Pretty sure all is secure, but will take a look.
