2003 BF225 Code 58 TDC sensors?

Hi All,
Have learned much trolling these threads.

My 2003 BF225 has check engine light on, 1sec on 1sec off alarm. I was able to do the whole jump the harness and get the flashing code from the light. It's CODE 58

The motor has been tough to start, cranks but no spark and has stalled a few times at idle.

My understanding is that CODE 58 is the TDC sensor(s). To change them you need to remove the timing belt and throttle body. Makes me nervous. How hard is it to remove the timing belt? Looks involved in the shop manual.

Wondering if there is anything else I should check first or do. Has anyone accessed these sensors a different way?

Thank you

How many hours? Has the timing belt ever been changed? If not, it's past time. If you do change it out, also consider changing out the rollers and tensioners.

Page 5-30 in the Helm shop manual gives you the procedure for testing the sensor.

Thank you Chawk. Allegedly the belt was changed a couple years ago prior to me acquiring the boat. The engine has 418 hours. I don't have the Helm manual but the Honda manual I do have has a procedure for testing the sensor which I assume will be similar. Will give it a go later today or tomorrow.
