2003 225hp throwing code

Hi,

I have a rough running engine that will not exceed 4000 rpm. it runs but will throw a code and die. I shunted the engine to get the codes and am getting -

1 Flash followed by 5 flashes.

i am having trouble understanding what this indicates. this is a 2003 225hp with 6800 hours.

That doesn't quite make sense. Long flashes or short flashes? There is no code "5"

Pull codes using this procedure. Record them. Then clear them and run engine again until it alarms. Then pull codes again. Get back to us with results.
