2002 Honda 90 HP Oerheating???

I have a 2002 Honda 90 HP 4 stroke which has been running fine all summer up until today, when the alarm sounded and motor idled back down on it's own. Am at the lake today and do not have the owners manual with me, but after some checking found that the motor was not "peeing" water as it should. Was not far from dock and was able to idle back and shut down. Would this be a bad water pump, impeller or what? It was "peeing" as it normally does when we started it this morninig. Also there is a red light near the ignition switch that is on which probalbly means overheating. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I can't offer much that will get you back out boating today. I will say that I agree with you that it all points to an overheat condition and I wouldn't run the motor any longer than it takes to get her on the trailer. Sure sounds like it's time for a new water pump.
