2001 75hp 4-stroke shuts off... CDI?

Hello everyone. I have a 2001 75-HP outboard 4 stroke engine. The motor is clean and has been regularly maintained.

PROBLEM: After starting the engine it idles fine. After a minute or two for the motor to properly warm. the RPM lowers for a acouple seconds then dies. If i try to put the engine in gear it dies. I read through the troubling problems in the manual. I tried doing a seating on the connections on the CDI box. Still same result. I have replaced the plugs with properly gapped new plugs.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there an easy way to test the CDI box?

I'll have to check with my neighbor. I did ask him if he winterized the motor last year he said he did not. We live in the desert on a lake. winter season is usually mid to low 30s at night and usually low 50's and sunny by day.. I dont know if that matters or not.
