2000 Johnson 150 will not idle after initial warmup

2000 Johnson 150PLSSC will not hold idle after running for a while and then being shutoff for 30 minutes or so. I can coax the motor to stay running by using choke. After doing this for a few minutes I can get the motor to throttle up but again but when idle is needed to approach dock the motor will sputter a few times then shutoff. Had a link/sync, new ignition, and compression test. Thank you for any responses.

Same problem. When cold, a good idle, after warn up, low idle. Difficult to stay running. Shut down for about 30 min would not start, until cold again.

CC" 60 degree V-6 engines are susceptible to "heat soak", mistakenly called vapor lock. When the engine is shut down, the cooling water drains from the hot block and the heat starts to rise under the hood. The carburetors, kept cool from the venturi effect, get warm and the gas starts to evaporate. When you start the motor, instead of liquid fuel, the carbs and intake are full of vapor which will fire up the motor but not allow any power. Squeezing the primer ball helps bring liquid fuel into the motor but it also starts to "flash off".
Make sure cooling system is up to par with a new impeller every 2 years no matter how good it "P"s. Let engine idle for several minutes when you reach your spot to help bring down engine temp.

Thank you! I appreciate the explanation of what could be happening and will give it a try this weekend.
