2.3 Electric fuel pump upgrade? hmmm

Hey guys, I've been on here a few times with some issues. After doing a full tune up, pertronix, plugs, wires, etc. I still had no spark and found out that my problem was not spark or fuel related at all. The gear that runs the distributor off the timing belt was destroyed for a reason I'm not to sure of just yet. I could be wrong but that part is most likely not produced anymore. So I kinda gave up for a bit until something came along.

Last week me an my buddies picked up a 92 Mustang with a 2.3 for cheap (130 bucks). So I thought, awesome, I have my part. Well I took it out and its the same except, theres no eccentric for the fuel pump. Sooo back to the drawing board.

I was thinking that I could use the gear from the mustang and that will get the distributor spinning again and get an electric fuel pump and just throw the mechanical in the hole to obviously not allow oil to leak out.

What are your guys thoughts about that? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jesse

I prefer the Mallory pump with a fuel pressure regulator and pressure gauge. I keep a spare aboard, but that's only due to paranoia. Not really much of a Holley fan.

I just need some thing really cheap! As soon as I get this boat running I'm gonna be looking to sell it and save for something sporty/bigger. Scarab I, Nova, Formula, Regal Velocity, ETC.

I don't know of any cheap electric fuel pumps that would go on a boat. Check ebay for a used something.

Regulations require that any marine engine gasoline electric fuel pump be equipped with a low oil pressure shut down circuit.
This also means that a start by-pass circuit is necesary in order to operate the pump during starting.

I'd not want to see you cited for this, nor see you sell a boat that is ill equipped.
