Engine ran in the big tub then high temp warning came on .. I didn't have my temp tester handy to check head temp but I know it was pumping water .. These sensors appear to be nonexistent or $300+ if one is found .. Budget is really tight !!What problems are you having?
Near Cedarville MI in the Eastern U.P.Your location?
I'll try it again and check the Head Temp for 140 to 160 degrees ..Need to make sure its not overheating, just because you have tattle tale working does not mean its cooling
Ok .. I found that test .. I also remember seeing a Ohm Meter test that could be done before removing the sensor .. This was a cold engine reading .. Engine RPMs will drop if there is a cooling issue ..will unplugging the sensor allow normal speeds to be regained? Providing that the sensor is defective and the engine cooling is OK ?The switch can be tested in hot water and say a candy thermometer.
OK .. I'll check this out ! Thanks for the help ..Take a temp gun and check the head temperature at the thermostat housing; just because it's pissing water doesn't mean it's cooling correctly. Before the thermostat opens most of the pee stream comes from the bypass flow. If the thermostat is stuck closed, broken in half, stuck in the bore so it can't open the bypass spring, etc. it'll overheat.
I just had this happen recently to me, still pissed water just fine until it overheated and started boiling the water leading to a spurting stream.
