I am having an intermittent fuel starvation issue at mid to max throttle. When the problem occurs if I pump the primer bulb I get going again. I bypassed the VRO years ago and had no issues until now. The engine runs great when the problem doesn't rear its ugly head.

I completely disassembled the fuel pump and it was very clean with no holes, rips or tears. I put it back together as is.

I also removed all carbs and they were very clean as well. I sprayed all the passage ways out anyway and reassembled.

Back on the water the same problem still existed. I am getting NO fuel leaks. I suspect an air leak somewhere? I made sure all the hoses were good and clamped well.

I sure would like to know where the issues lies but I would also like to simplify my fuel pump system.

Can I go with an older wedge style OMC fuel pump? The 3 port model. Is there a kit to do this with plugs for all the block holes not needed? Any guidance or links would be greatly appreciated. I would love to ditch the complicated plastic VRO pump with a tried and true gas only pump.

Also, one of the carbs has the "bowl curve issue". I was thinking about taping the bowl seal temporarily to see if air is getting in their? Can air enter into the bowl if it is not sealed well? Or would gas come out? Again, no gas leaks after running hard all day.

OBTW Compression on all cylinders is great and well within tolerance.

Thanks,

Either the VRO is failing or the vapor separator has a air leak. You cannot use the old style pump on this engine. There are kits but the only 2 I ever saw did not work properly
