Hi All,
Hope someone can help with my old outboard. I have twin 60s and they have been running beautifully until recent. The one outboard would be running at 4500 rpm and then seem to cut out but then kick back in and run normally except the tachometer would not run after that ie. it would sit on 0 evern through the outboard was running at over 4000. Took it in to be checked out and the mechanic said it was the stator, so i have had that changed, last test the outboard was not cutting out but the tachometer would go up to 2000 rpm and after that go down to 0 as you accelerated further. Mechanic said he also worked on the CDI, my feeling is that this is most likely a CDI problem overall and not a stator issue? I am trying to get some idea before i take it back and he changes more things which aren't necessary. any suggestions would be great. thanks
