1996 90hp lost tappet screw and lock nut

Hi all im looking at a 1996 90hp that had some issues syncing carbs.
Motor runs ok but at 300rpm developed a ticking. Motor was shut down. On inspection of the tappets. One id the adjustment srews and lock nut is missing.
Any idea od where it could have lodged?
 
I don't know about this one but I would be looking at oil drain back passage on most engines
It's either that or inside the coils on valve springs. Probably not too many other places
Although, it looks like it has a fair sized crankcase vent on the valve cover they could bounce into.
You .might want to pull that hose off and look at that.

BTW...
...boats.net lists a 1997 90 hp.
but no pre 97 90hp...

... they only show a pre 97 75hp and a pre 97 115 hp.

Just telling you what I'm seeing.
