1995 merk 150efi hard start

i have 159 efi 1995 m start cold it will fire off first try then cut off same next time give it fast idel will start little rough running then cler up go down lake a mile or so runs fine cut of waite afew min starts right up if i fish for a hour or so stars up cuts off only way to start is fast idel if i dont give it fast idel it will quite trying to start at all

Start w/the basics: new plugs and filters. How old is the fuel? Check the fuel in the tank for water by pumping some into a small jar...let it sit overnight to see if there is water settling to the bottom.

Sounds like fuel problem. Start with new canister water/fuel filter on engine by starter,new fuel pump diaphram and some Mercury Quikleen to fuel.
