1994 MERCURY BLACK MAX EFI 175 LOST POWER UNDER LOAD

I am seeming to have some trouble with my 1994 Mercury Black max EFI 175.

When Driving it would seem to have a stutter at around 4,000 RPM almost like it was sucking in air somewhere. After that I went into and through a "no wake" zone and when I went to take back off the motor wouldn't even get me on plane. It had no power but would still run and never did bogg down and shut itself off. The motor would still idle normal but just had to power to take off. I shut motor off for about 30 minutes and then fired back up on the lake and it ran like a champ. Idled great and had all its power back. Not sure what could cause this so any help is much appreciated!!

Thank you in advance!

Do you have a volt meter? Was it overcharging?
I didn't have a meter with me while it was happening. I thought I lost a cylinder or something but the fact that all the power came back makes me think its fuel related but I am unsure. What would I need to test? Thanks for the reply!!

If you have a rectifier bad it will cause overcharging. This will overheat the fuel pump and cause fuel pressure problems

Okay I will try and look for a parts diagram to locate the rectifier. Would this cause the intermittent stutter in the motor as well as temporary power loss? Almost felt like when the motor wouldn't plane out that I lost a cylinder but it was weird because after sitting for a short period of time it worked great again. Thank you!!
