I have a 1994 150 XRI that overheated on one side and blew the head gasket.
I removed the head and took it too my local machine shop to have checked. He showed me it was warped between the top cylinder and middle cylinder. He told me he could machine it 20 thousandth down and fix it. He claims it’s not enough to make a difference in compression from one side to the other.
before I pay him the $80.00 to deck the head I want to make sure this is acceptable. He’s a reputable and skilled machinist but boat motors are not his specialty. I just want to be sure this is ok to do.
