"TrollingBob.... There are two different charging systems for the 9.9/15hp as well as other hps.

Yours would take OMC part #174037 which lists for approx $68.00. It is designed to fit from 1983 to 1988, and of course also 1993.

However, OMC PART # 175251 which lists for approx $62.00, which also fits the 9.9/15hp WILL NOT FIT your engine. This kit is designed to fit the 1989 through 1992 engines.

Bottom line: Use part #174037 only! If you find one from a used 9.9hp of 15hp, make sure that the letters of CT, CR, CO, CD, CU, CC, or ET are in the "Model Number".

OMC's code is the word INTRODUCES where each letter stands for a number.... CT=83, CR=84 etc etc.
