First time boat owner, I just got a 40 hp 1993 merc and have been messing with the throttle screws.
Is it possible to accidentally over rev the motor and damage it? Is using the tach on the dashboard in neutral a reasonable way to set the max rev? (manual says 5500 rpms max) or do i need a load? (like plowing through water)
