1991 Evinrude Intruder 150 | Fuel Inlet Issue

I recently purchased a boat with a 1991 Evinrude Intruder 150 engine. The motor will start up, but only stays on for 5-15 seconds. When I took the motor cover off, I noticed some fuel coming from one of the inlets. I can replicate the problem when I pump fuel into the system. Has anyone had this problem? If so, do I need to replace the entire fuel inlet (http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_details.php?pnum=OMC0433364&pass_title=0433364+:), or just an o-ring? Or is there another fix?

Is that tube plastic like it seems? I have repaired numerous things with epoxy of the appropriate type but you have to get it clean and dry.
 
There is a JB Weld for plastics. Roughen surface with a scotch brite carefully first. Release fuel pressure and apply epoxy with a toothpick or small screwdriver. I have repaired fuel pump nipples many times using this method. They last for years and years and years if done carefully.
 
That is the fuel supply(manifold) to carbs...it is sonic welded from the factory and needs REPLACED!! Never use any type of bonding agents on a pressure side of fuel system!!
 
So much for "Sonic welding", eh Pappy. If I repair a skeg and it breaks off with first rock strike I will tell the customer that it was my new "sonic weld" technique.
 
Yes replace that for sure. As you saw it looks like that part is NLA and used is your only option. Do a search for Evinrude 0433521 and you'll find many options for used sources for this part.

Some new technology is ridiculous. How about a clutch on an alternator? ......ya sure you betcha!!!! Took my Dodge apart and welded it up. Stupid. Same thing on AC compressor. Centrifugal clutch, but refrigerant circulation is controlled only by electronic valve. Clutches fail all the time.....great engineering. Let's consider they are paying engineers to brilliantly cause failures.
