1988 Mariner Oil pump removal

I have a 1988 Mariner that I am converting to mixed gas. I have removed the oil pump shaft, removed the oil tank from the boat, emptied the oil tank on the motor and mixed the gas at 50 to 1. Can I now start the motor or do I need to do more?

As long as you plugged the nipple where the oil used to feed to the fuel pump (and it sounds like you have left the pump in place, just removed the shaft), then it sounds like you have covered all the bases.

Go ahead and fire it up...

Is there a fitting to plug the oil nipple or should I make something to do it with?

If this is a V6...No you need to install the block off kit as if motor overheats the rear oil pump bushing in block can come loose and fall into cylinder while running resulting in motor failure. Below is kit as it holds bushing in place...
