1987 Mercury Black Max

Thanks guys. The guy that sold it to me said it was an '87. In any event, it runs great, seems very strong for the year. Do you know what the max rpm's should be?

An 1999 18' Ranger w/150 Johnson w/a SS 25P prop will hit 70+.
Behind what type of tow vehicle???
Hate to be a pain, but what kind of max speed do you think it would run. It is on a 1990 Javelin 396 XFD.
Depending on prop/setup somewhere in the low to mid 50's....

A Volkswagon, of course! It's my brother's boat...I made him slow down since it scared the hell out of me. I was on another similar bass boat w/a 150 Mariner doing 70 mph on calm water...made him slow down also. His prop was strange looking...shaped like a screw or something. I haven't seen one like it since. I don't like racing on a gas powered water ski. If they both had GPS on them the speed may actually have been lower.

100% likely as you can go over to BBC and check the Ranger board ,aint no model with any 150 running over 63mph. Its hard to guesstimate speed on water and speedo's are a joke above 50 mph. I being doing this long enough that I can walk by a boat and look a prop and pitch and pretty much get within a few mph of its speed.

Hey Faztbullet are you close to Willow Grove on Dale Hollow Lake? I fish there nealy every year. Had my best smallmouth bass day ever off that dock in April 2008. I landed six egg laden smallies using shiners in 3 hours. Smallest was 19" and the largest 22"--the only keeper. Everyone else was on the main lake while I dock fished. I had to get the ladies to witness each catch and release w/a camera. Great lake to fish.

I am kinda close and fish Dale hollow in the winter(floatnfly) I got a buddy that has a cabin at Cedar Hill(Worms place) we stay at.
ny suggestions on prop pitch, four blade, stainless etc.?
What type of hull and do you mainly ski.fish.ride,ski?

That motor is only around 140 hp at prop and on that boat a 19pitch will be close, dont look for a lot of speed ...mid 40's to low 50
