1985 Johnson 120

Need help. So when my motor is in choke it fires up first time. When i go to neutral or in gear it wants to die. I've rebuilt the carbs ,new plugs, new prime ball as well as fuel lines. What's the next step?

I honestly have no clue. I'll have to look at the title or the motor. I've had it on the water twice. While in the water and Choke on or some what neutral choke seems ok but once in neutral or starting to giving it throttle it dies. That's when I didn't everything I stated in post.

Pretty sure we did a compression test but I dont remember the numbers.

Someone has attempted to bypass the water valve on cooling system. The way its plumbed now it will not cool properly or at all !! Need to check compression as if hot it will scuuf pistons on exhaust side at bridge..
