Motor starts and idles great but at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle engine dies. I can keep it running for short bursts by hitting the choke. Just wondering where to start. Carb or fuel pump or both. Motor had set in storage for several years. When first started I did notice fuel dripping from carb. After running carb cleaner thru leak has stopped but still wont run WOT.

Thanks, Mark

Both! They're together on that model.

PS: Take a really deep breath when you ask how much that rebuilding kit costs!

Jeff, The fuel line connects to a small filter and then to what looks like a diaphram pump then to carb. I'll recheck serial #s but it sure looks like a pump to me. Thanks, Mark

Its a fuel delivery problem and the pump is separate from carb as you stated.. The fuel pump diaphrams can be had aftermarket, part #s 18-7839 an 18-7840. You can buy the carb kit thru a Yamaha dealer cheaper than you can get it aftermarket and it has a lot more parts and better quality.

Thanks, Took the carb off first/disassembled and bingo. The bowl and float had about a 1/2" of gum and varnish in the bottom from setting so long. Cleaned everything reassembled and it runs out fine."This was my first carb removal. Wasn't as bad as I had imagined". Thanks again .
