1977 Merc 500 - Need Help

The motor is blown (#1) that's why it wont idle..quit wasteing your time dinking with it and tear it apart and fix it. There is nothing you can do externally to make it run correctly

Turns out I made a bonehead mistake, can't believe it. I rushed puting carbs and starter on a few weeks ago so I could test later that day. Turns out, I wasn't paying attention and stuck the little wire clip holder inbetween the carb body and the intake causing a pretty big air leak...

Welp, I learn more I guess. We're up and running nicely in test tank now. Unsure how long this engine will run but for now will put in water, do the Link and Sync and have some fun. This forum is a huge help, thanks again!
