Sorry if this post appears multiple times. I'm having some difficulty.
This motor has been sitting vertically and covered for 4 years. I'm in the process of getting it running. I want to replace the water pump and can't find specific directions. Is it as simple as disconnecting the shift rod and removing the lower unit, then replacing the pump? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Paul,
Close....but the shift rod isn't "removed" per se.

You simply pull the pin at the top of the rod from the shifting mechanism and then unscrew the "joint" from the the rod.

Make sure to count and write down the number of turns to unscrew the joint so that you can reinstall correctly. If not, you might have shifting issues.

After that, it's remove the five 6mm bolts from the top of the gearcase and slide her out, shift rod and all.

Good luck.
