175 hp pressure guage install

Please advise as to installing the fitting for the water pressure hose on my motor. It is a 1996 Mercury 175 hp carbureted motor with no brass plug visible anywhere. I have been advised to tee it off the telltale hose and would appreciate a second opinion. Thank you so much for your consideration.

Thank you Fatzbullet. I'll trace the location of the hose you referenced and I guess it's safe to say I'll need a fitting (fittings) to reduce it to 1/8" pipe thread. Is it safe to say you're not in favor of teeing off the telltale hose? I had my concerns as to the accuracy of that method. Wishing well to you and yours.

That will be a true reading of the impeller pressure...it will fluctuate as poppet opens and closes so don't be alarmed.
