175 Fichts injector replacement

Happy new year everybody . I have a 175 hp Fichts and I need to change an injector , do I need software to perform this task ? Anybody know where I could get the software ?
 
OR, you can buy the software directly from a BRP dealer parts counter. I don't know the part number, but they will.
It is very expensive.
Also, there are Ebay listings for the software. These listings are illegal copies and are usually not the latest version. They have the cables included.
But, some of them actually do work well. I know a guy that got his from Portugal, and it works very well.

You will probably not actually need the latest version....maybe version 4.5 or so will do.....so you might find someone trying to sell
their version 4.5 for very cheap.
There is a whole lot of learning that you need to do before you go replacing injectors. Each injector has 4 numerical parameters associated
with it that have to be coded (installed) into the EMM with the EVDiags software. If you don't do this, you will risk blowing the engine.
If you buy a new injector, the parameters will come on a floppy disk....so your PC will need an old floppy drive. OR, if the injector is newer than
2002 it will have a label on it with a QR Code that is readable with a smartphone that contains the parameters. They can then be manually entered.
Then there is the proper cable and USB to serial adapter issues that always occur.
Another problem is that your EMM may not have the latest and greatest "engine map" installed. This "engine map" should be upgraded to the latest version to fix any software issues that could cause engine damage.

Also, your engine was one of the most troublesome engines made...the 60* fichts were notorious for blowing up.
So, you had better be sure you are correct in doing this repair.
 
Is your injector bad?? You can send it to DFI and have serviced and reinstall with no changes if it was justed cleaned or pintle replaced. A new injector will run $500 and you will need software depending on year.Best to bite bullet and let dealer install, no more than a 1 hour labor plus part.
