Hi All. Im new to this forum and hoping do get some advice. I have a mercury125 2001 elpto 2+2. I have read that they can b hard to start. Well mine is. I have replaced the plugs twice. Replaced the fuel filters and the primer bulb. Sometimes the plugs get fouled and the motor won't start until they r cleaned. I noticed the motor runs cold with a 120 degree thermostatic. I have had alot of outboards and I can't remember any running that cold. Does anyone know why they would b this way
I asked a mechanic if putting a 140 degree thermostat in will help. He said it could but he couldn't say for sure. So I put a 140 degree in and it did help. Has anyone done this and could there b any harm to the motor
Once the motor starts it runs great.
thanks
