125 hp fuel pump

I am putting a fuel pump gasket kit in a 1995 Mariner 125hp. My question is. in the kit there is two black rubber valves and two white plastic disc do I install both rubber and both plastic white disc back in the fuel pump. Or just the rubber or just the plastic ones. Thanks if I can get some information on this.
 
It's my understanding that the black one is the sealing element and the white one the 'spring'. If so, put the black against the aluminum and the white behind it.

If the kit is OEM it should have instructions. I just did my 2002 and it had instructions. Not remembering exactly what I did, I do agree with Jeff on his assessment....makes sense.
 
Which kit you using as you dont use the rubber disks ??????

I used both white and black disc In the fuel pump. the motor is idle good now I don’t have to pump the primer bulb to keep it idling. When I took the fuel pump apart
it only had the the plastic white ones. I had a mechanic work on it a few years back. The reason I am putting a kit the fuel pump and also cleaned all 4 carbs because the gas was gummy in the carbs my bad I let the gas sit awhile. But it’s idling good comparing to the way it was earlier this morning. Now that I have cleaned carbs and fuel pump. The real test will be when I put it on the water. Do you guys think I will have problems with that fuel pump because I am using all four disc. Thank you very much for your help.
