    Johnson 9.5hp vs. SeaKkng15hp (Chrysler)

I have a 1972 Johnson 9.5 HP. I would like a little more power. I found some one that wants to trade me a 15 HP Sea King. Everything that I have found tells me that it is a Chrysler. Is the Sea King a good motor? Are parts readily available and afforrdable?

    70hp Johnson FOOT REMOVAL

The 1981 70 HP Johnson runs great! Ran it in tank . Forward and reverse. I noticed water coming out where the foot meets the "midsection". Water in oil. I pulled 5 bolts out . The foot is not coming out. How big of a hammer should I use to get it off.

    85 HP Evinrude NO SPARK

1975 MODEL I am getting NO spark from any coil. I do not have the fancy tester. I am using an induction timing light to test for spark. I will search the forum, as well. This is on the parts/replacement motor that I bought to replace/repair the previous engine that I posted about previously...

1975 85hp Johnson starter mount broken

I did just that, but the one bolt that broke off ( center right) broke off at the head of bolt. As seen in picture the head will rotate counterclockwise with the remainder of bolt frozen in head, but rotating in block. I tried heat and tapping with a lot of blaster, but no luck. I will try a...

1975 85hp Johnson starter mount broken

The head gasket appears to have been replaced (left finger in picture). The head cover gasket (right finger in picture) is original. Is it possible for head cover gasket to cause low compression on 2 adjacent cylinders? Or a better question could be what typically causes adjacent cylinders to...

1975 85hp Johnson starter mount broken

This starter mount is broken. Would JB weld be my best option. The cause of this is due to the top front bolt backing out, putting too much pressure on this mount.

    1975 85hp Johnson

Yes. Bypassed, and using newer push to choke switch. There seems to be nothing to keep choke open. When I manually set it in open position, it does stay open. But when power is disconnected from solenoid, it stays in choke position. Gravity only is keeping in place. Take a look at picture...

    1975 85hp Johnson choke issue

What is supposed to cause choke solenoid to return to open position once switch is released? I am attaching a picture of what I have. Thanks, Gary

    1975 85hp Johnson

Choke solenoid activates properly when power is applied through switch. When switch is released, choke stays on. What is required to release choke? There is no "spring" resistance when manually operating plunger. Thanks, Gary Also thank you to those that replied to previous posts. I now know...

    1975 85hp Johnson

Here's a picture of my choke solenoid. This is a 74-75 engine with a newer push to choke switch, using the purple/white wire, eliminating the temperature sensor for now.

    85hp 1973-1977 Johnson.

Where are freeze plugs? I pulled starter and solenoid, but can't find freeze plugs. Honestly, I am not a total idiot, but I must be overlooking them. Are they being flywheel? Trying to identify year and model number. I have narrowed down to Johnson due to original color, and '73-75 due to coils.

    85hp 1973-1977 Johnson. what do I have?

Re: 85hp 1973-1977 Johnson ignition issues. I narrowed my issues down to the fact that I have a '73-75 engine and a '77 remote control/switch. I just received a switch from marineengine.com. I ordered a '73 switch. It is different than my current one. The existing switch has choke in switch...

As you can see paint scheme and decals don't help much! I do see the Johnson green underneath. The model numbers that I posted are from marine engine website, after looking at several diagrams. Thanks for your help. Gary
