1975 85hp Johnson

Choke solenoid activates properly when power is applied through switch. When switch is released, choke stays on. What is required to release choke? There is no "spring" resistance when manually operating plunger.

Here's a picture of my choke solenoid.
This is a 74-75 engine with a newer push to choke switch, using the purple/white wire, eliminating the temperature sensor for now.
