1975 85hp Johnson

Choke solenoid activates properly when power is applied through switch. When switch is released, choke stays on. What is required to release choke? There is no "spring" resistance when manually operating plunger.

Is the " thermo switch " function disabled , yes or no.

Yes. Bypassed, and using newer push to choke switch.

There seems to be nothing to keep choke open. When I manually set it in open position, it does stay open. But when power is disconnected from solenoid, it stays in choke position. Gravity only is keeping in place. Take a look at picture, maybe something is missing or incorrect.

There should be a wee spring below the plunger.
