    Mariner 8 hp water inlet pee hole? Year model.

    hi all I got a new (old) mariner 8 hp over the weekend. The serial number on the plate riveted to the bracket says "647-L 6773 Made in Japan" - another plate on the other side says "made for Mariner Motor Co Fond Du Lac Wisconsin" I am wanting to know the year model if anyone knows? Also...

    Does the motor need the thermostat and temp sensor?

    I pulled the heads on my 1976 Johnson 70 hp and the thermostat and temp sensor look terrible! Does the motor need these parts working to run? I am tossing up about bothering to try and fix this motor and am considering a 2nd hand powerhead from a wrecker .... would that come with those...

    Well that was an interesting experience! There appeared to be no spark when I tried to test the spark plugs. Pulling off the cylinder head - the first part seen here came off ok but it was was VERY dusty and falling apart... there is a thing in the upper right corner hole that looks rusted...

    Hi there, I bought this boat with the engine on it and the tilt trim had apparently been taken off for respraying but the guy said he forgot how to put it all back on. It is serial number 6273756 and I'm not sure how old it is or what you call these side ram tilt mechanisms. I would love to...
