    1969 Johnson 55hp

    I have replaced a broken distributor cap, gaped the points, cleaned up the roter. I still can't get this thing to start. When you turn it over nothing but sometimes it will fire once after you let go of the key. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Is there any trick to separating the stator from the distributor cap on a 1969 Johnson 55hp? I have a distributor cap I want to replace but I can't get the stator off. I don't want to beat the crap out of it if possible.

    1969 Johnson 55hp stalls with power/won't start

    I have a 1969 Johnson 55hp outboard. It ran great in the yard but when we took it out it immediately stalled under any load. Now it will not start at all.
