    Yanmar oil Q

The only other thing I can think is they are describing two different models, since this pic looks different from the one describing the sea water system:

Here is the statement and pic from service manual:

    Yanmar oil Q

yeah--that's what it says, which I thought odd. I guess once I take the zincs out I'll see what comes out behind them...

    Yanmar oil Q

Thx--yes, I was wondering why the zincs would be in fresh as they appear. The salt circulates through an internal set of tubes, and the fresh circulates around the outside of those tubes, so not sure how they are getting the zincs into that tube system, and was afraid they might somehow be in...

    Yanmar oil Q

thx Mak yes, both are accessible. It takes 10.5 quarts approx. I was thinking after I sent that Q that perhaps the two fill ports were for convenience in case one was not accessible. Just wanted to be sure they weren't somehow two separate systems. I'm going to double check to see it appears...

    Yanmar oil Q

I have a Yanmar 4PHM-TE (PH-TE); it has two oil fill ports. The standard one on top of the cylinder head, but another on what may be the oil pump--not sure. Can't find any mention of it in the service manual. It is located lower front port side of engine. There is a cap marked "oil" where...

    4PHM-TE exhaust, heat exchanger

folks, this boat has been in fresh but going to salt. The raw water from the exchanger exits via exhaust. Can that be rerouted, or is it needed for back pressure? If the latter, is there a way to flush those areas in the exhaust system that the raw water contacts? Same Q for the exchanger. it...

    smokey?

Yanmar PHM-TE with 900 hrs. Some smoke revving engine after running about 10--15 mins. Is that too much smoke when revving? Looks like there could be a bit of blue in the grey? Would I be looking at a top-end rebuild? If so, any idea what a top-end rebuild costs for these engines? Do not yet...

    Yanmar 4 PHM-TE/4 PHE

If I wind up not being able to replace essential parts like the engine zincs, I'm assuming I'll eventually have to replace the engine due to salt water contamination and corrosion? What would I replace it with, and what would you estimate the cost to be?

twin mercruiser 351 CID (5.7) V drive 1.1 reversing ('82?)--maintenance, handling, docking etc. in Tollycraft

Thx all! Actually, I decided on a Sundowner 30 trawler with a Yanmar 4PHM-TE engine, but a bit worried about parts? Also, the heat exchanger seems to function counter-intuitively (at least based on my previous Universal (Westerbeke), in which raw water flowed through the main body of the...

    Yanmar 4 PHM-TE/4 PHE

Hi folks-- Any idea of a parts source for the yanmar 4phm-te? I believe most are interchangeable with the 4 phe. The heat exchanger and oil cooler zincs seem atypical pencil zincs. Also any free downloads for repair manuals? I see one for $12 online, but just checking I'm just buying a...

twin mercruiser 351 CID (5.7) V drive 1.1 reversing ('82?)--maintenance, handling, docking etc. in Tollycraft

Any idea where the engine serial #s are on those engines? I need to prove pre-2010 to import...

twin mercruiser 351 CID (5.7) V drive 1.1 reversing ('82?)--maintenance, handling, docking etc. in Tollycraft

Thx! Actually I see a pic of the stuff gland--appeared to be accessible. They are dripless...

twin mercruiser 351 CID (5.7) V drive 1.1 reversing ('82?)--maintenance, handling, docking etc. in Tollycraft

Thx. The seller said she'd be sure boat is running/ going to speak to a mechanic who looked over boat later to see what's what... hopefully fuel was treated...draining tanks a pain $ I think. Actually, getting this in Canada--bottom paint reasonable g paying US. If I have it done here, it...

twin mercruiser 351 CID (5.7) V drive 1.1 reversing ('82?)--maintenance, handling, docking etc. in Tollycraft

Thx! That links was helpful. BTW--I'm wondering what additives I should consider for the gas. The boat has not actually left the dock in 3yrs. I believe it has been started, and I know it has been winterized (not sure what that means since it is in salt water and has an enclosed cooling system)...
