    How much if any lateral and or up and down play should the prop shaft have on a 1996 johnson 175hp faststrike. Not a lot of hours on the engine and it does have a little but maybe a little is ok i just don't know. Thanks for taking a look.

    Hose hookup water flow

    I have Johnson outboard, 175HP, 1996 year. My question is; when you hook up a hose to the water inlet with the motor not running as you should do before starting, where should you see the water come out of the lower unit?

    Whould anyone out there have a comment on if these two products could be substituted for one another. The amsoil is what i use on my boat trailer amoung other things.

    Drive shaft seal gear case upper

    On a 1996 Johnson Faststrike 175, how do you replace the upper seal, the one on top of the gear case? Looking at it from the top it is upside down, as you can see the spring in the seal. Is that the way you put it in, outside first. Looks like it could be done with a little work. 04-16-2012
