    1977 850 mercry will not start after replacing stator

    I replaced the stator yesterda I replaced the stator yesterday with no problems. Took to lake to test and the motor started and idled for about a minute then died. It started again for a few seconds but want start again. Any sugestions?

    1977 Mercury 85 hp stator or fuel problems

    Hello Looking for some help w Hello Looking for some help with the above motor. The motor runs good at low speeds but at high speeds I have to push the choke in or pump the fuel bulb to continue running fast. Could a bad stator cause the problem. I was thinking fuel pump or carbs?Thanks
