Hello
Looking for some help with the above motor.
The motor runs good at low speeds but at high speeds I have to push the choke in or pump the fuel bulb to continue running fast. Could a bad stator cause the problem. I was thinking fuel pump or carbs? Thanks

"That definately sounds like the fuel pump. You squeezing the bulb is taking the place of the fuel pump doing it's job, but your high speed jet on the carb could also be partially clogged giving you a similar problem.

A good cleaning and new diaphram for the pump is relatively easy and inexpensive to do..."

You should trouble shoot this

You should trouble shoot this by putting a timing light on one or more of the plugs. Observe the flashing when the engine falters. If the light flashes bright and steady it is not a stator / ignition issue.Might be best to check each cylinder.
