1977 850 mercry will not start after replacing stator

I replaced the stator yesterda

I replaced the stator yesterday with no problems. Took to lake to test and the motor started and idled for about a minute then died. It started again for a few seconds but want start again. Any sugestions?

Found I was not getting gas. S

Found I was not getting gas. Still doing the same thing before replacing the stator that the mechanic said it needed. I think high speed jet in carb has something in it.
