    I'm considering converting my 6hp to an 8hp. It appears that the only difference is the high speed orifice . According to the parts diagram the 6hp uses a No. 37 orifice and the 8hp uses a No. 36 orifice. This does not make sense to me that a 6hp orifice is larger than the 8hp. Does anyone...

    When reinstalling the exhaust manifold do you recommend coating the mounting bolts with either a loc tite material or copper antisieze coating?

    Bingo! I used an old wood chisel in the front of the power head between the power head and the aluminum base plate and was successful in separating it. Thank you for your help.

    I tried tapping against the block with a piece of oak in the fron of the power head. No success. I sprayed PB blaster on the gasket hoping it will release the power head. any other ideas? Thanks.

    Need assistance in removing the power head for 1996 Johson 8hp outboard. I believe I have remove all the bolts but not sure how to separate the powerhead from the midsection.

    It was uniformly spread on the power head base/ plastic skirt and inside cover of the cowling. It make sense that it is a gasket at the base of the power head. Thank you!
