yeah from what i have found ebay generally has the cheapest parts and even then they are all from the U.S.
in my last message i meant i have now ordered one of the pipes off eBay and figured it wasn't worth doing it myself. ill have a look at the AOMCI and maybe ask there if i run into anymore...
South Australia, so basically every cheap part I have replaced costs a whole bunch more. The cheapest thermostat I could find was $60. I ended up just buying the original part though.
ok it is finally out, the bad news is that the tube is in pieces. the grommet was actually melted and restricting water flow over the end of the tube like i thought. my last question is whether its worth buying a new tube or trying to make it myself? a new one is going to cost me around $60 aud...

ok i went out and bought a pair of longer needle nose pliers but i am still struggling a bit. i think the old grommet must be hard and brittle because i basically cant budge it. the copper pipe itself also feels really solid like there is something more than the rubber grommet holding it in. is...
ahh perfect, thanks for all the help. my pair of needle nose pliers are just a bit too short which has made it quite tricky to grab at but I'm sure ill be able to work something out
