1979 Evinrude 55 hp will not run full speed without choke.

My carburetors do not have that gasket installed. I will order two of them. This is probably the whole problem. Thanks.

The gasket in question sets around emulsion tube..it is #7

Right. Since this is a long-standing problem from before I received this boat, I'd say the gaskets were not present when I took the boat to the shop to have the carbs cleaned and renewed. Since the old gaskets were likely not there, he simply restored things like he found them. He definitely thoroughly cleaned the carb and replaced the other gaskets and parts. I found it very clean. I agree that he should have realized the deficiency and installed the new emulsion tube gaskets that, no doubt, came with the carb kit. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, everyone. The emulsion tube carb gaskets arrived. Installed them in the carbs and reinstalled the carbs on the engine. Tested the boat on the river today and it ran great. It ran full speed. Thanks for everyone's input.
