    Volvo Penta 290SP-A Wrong oil?

I have just changed the oil on my 290 SP and used 75w90 GL5, as that is what my previous DP drive used. I now realise that I should have used engine oil sae30 or 40. Should I change it, or is the synthetic GL5 actually a better oil anyway and best left? Thanks

Lubricate the lower crank bearing or not?

I have the workshop manual but I can't find any reference to this. I have replaced the lower crankshaft bearing and, seeing as it is outside of the labyrinth seal and therefore won't benefit from the two stroke oil, wondered whether it should be greased. Any veiws? Cheers

I am rebuilding my 25 and need some piston rings. Sierra are coming out at a good price but is it worth paying more for OMC? Anyone got any comments on Sierra parts in general. As the rebuild goes on I am sure that Sierra will keep popping up as a good value option. cheers
