    OMC eating power packs

    What would cause an OMC motor to keep eating power packs? I have had this happen on a 70 hp Johnson, a 115 Evinrude, and after I just bought a 48 Johnson, the former owner told me it had gone through several power packs. There has to be a common cause for this. What is it? Thanks
