    I have removed the stator and did an Ohms test. I got no connectivity whatsoever on the 2 brown wires and no wires are broken so I assume the stator is bad. If so, what would cause it to go bad? Is there something else, rectifier or powerpack, that could cause this and should be changed also...

    Anodes on '1983 Evinrude 70hp

    Can someone tell me if there are sacrificial anodes on an '83 Evinrude 70hp? I don't see anything on the gearcase that appears to be one. Motor will be used in fresh water only.

    1983 70 hp How do you change the Shift Shaft cover o-ring

    Resealing a '83 70hp Evinrude and I've gotten to the Shift Shaft cover. There appears to be an o-ring in the hole under the brass bushing. How on God's green earth are you supposed to change that? I could probably get the old one out but I don't see anyway to get the new one in. :confused:

    OMC Adhesive M 1983 70 hp

    I'm resealing the gearcase on an '83 Evinrude 70hp. The book calls for OMC Adhesive M. Is there an automotive (or other) substitute for this? Permatex #2? What about OMC Gasket Sealer...is there a substitute for this also?
